The Shiretowners mascot is definitely one of the more unique and interesting ones you'll come across, especially in Maine. This mascot represents Houlton Middle-High School and is rooted in some cool history. The term "Shiretowners" comes from the idea of a "shire town," which is a town where a court of law is located, like a place with a circuit court or a jury🏛️. In 2020, Houlton made a switch from their old mascot, "the Penguin," to something that better fits their town's identity – they even introduced a new physical mascot called "The Judge" to go along with it👮.
