Back in the day, they were called the "Irish" and later the "Greenies," but people didn't quite vibe with that, so they transformed into the "Greenmen" in the late 1950s and early 1960s⭐. This change was influenced by their connection to the Cleveland Browns, using a similar elf mascot but with a green twist. The current tough-looking Greenman, complete with a masculine design and weapon in hand, was revamped in 1972 by an Aurora student-athlete named Mark Campana🛡️.
