The Greenmen of Aurora High School in Ohio are definitely one of the more unique and interesting mascots you'll come across. The story behind this green-clad mascot is pretty cool. Initially, the school was known as the "Greenies," which was inspired by the Cleveland Browns' elf mascot, the "Brownie." However, people weren't too fond of the "Greenies" name, so it got a makeover in the late 1950s and early 1960s to become the "Greenmen"🛡️. This change not only gave the mascot a more masculine and robust image but also stuck with the green theme, which fits perfectly with the school's colors. In 1972, an Aurora senior student-athlete named Mark Campana redesigned the Greenman logo to what we see today – a more serious and strong symbol of school spirit🏆. So, if you're ever in Ohio and come across the Greenmen, you'll know they're more than just a quirky name; they're a part of a rich school history and a symbol of community pride.
